Jaroslava Bičovská presents twelve watercolour drawings that offer a glimpse into her own garden, a place bearing traces of human presence without being disturbed by them. The central motif is a red chair, a symbol of tranquillity, pause and the fleeting presence of human life. Is it waiting? Remembering? It remains a silent witness to the passage of time.

The exhibition’s title, Intermezzo, evokes a moment of calm and interruption—a quiet pause in the flow of time. Just as in music, theatre or literature, where an intermezzo represents a brief interval or episode, these paintings capture moments of stillness. Traces of human presence, whether in the form of a chair, a sun lounger or a parasol, tell stories of a tranquillity that endures even after the person has left. Each empty chair has a story to tell, and we are invited to listen in silence.
